I have Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science and a Minor in Nutrition from Central Michigan University. I am a Clinical Exercise Specialist certified by The American College of Sports Medicine and have worked as a Exercise Physiologist at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital for 20 years. I have worked with all ages in both the clinical and wellness setting. I have also practiced for 14 years as a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist specializing in Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release and Repetitive Use Injury Therapy.
I have always been passionate about exercise and I spend a lot of time seeking workouts that continue to produce results, eliminate boredom and that are stimulating both mentally and physically. About 15 months ago I started with Emily at Boot Camp. I was immediately hooked! Emily has this infectious personality, unsurpassed energy, creativity and compassion for people. I knew I wanted to be a part of her team. I believe Functional Fitness Training is ideal in providing you with safe, effective workouts that prepare your body for the demands you place on it daily. The workouts are so versatile it will continue to challenge your body in new ways every time you attend a class, therefore preventing an overuse syndrome which leads to future injuries.
When my youngest daughter was 2 she asked me one day when I was exercising "why I worked out so much." I responded, "so that I can stay healthy and live a long time!" It was then that I realized my "true" goals for exercise. Exercise for me is ALWAYS about how it makes me feel inside and the overall health benefit! It was just a bonus that it helped me stay slim. As a mother of 2 girls I am careful not to make them think exercise is all about weight loss and I truly believe that it's not. It's about taking what body you were given and putting it to the test. It will reward you back, I promise! I love the people that Boot Camp attracts because regardless of their fitness level they show up and are ready for any challenge you place before them. It's that mental and physical toughness that impresses me everyday I am there working out beside you.
